With the onset of warmer weather, police have increased monitoring of areas used for mass recreation, the Interior Ministry’s press service reported.
According to the ministry, around 500 recreation zones are operating across the country, most of them located near bodies of water. In addition, more than 300 informal beaches popular with the public are under special monitoring.
Police foot patrols, personal mobility devices and the national public safety monitoring system have been deployed in recreation areas.
Traffic police officers are monitoring road conditions near recreation zones. Preventive patrols are being carried out jointly with representatives of OSVOD and voluntary patrol groups.
Particular attention is being paid to preventing alcohol consumption in public places, including beaches. The Interior Ministry stressed that such actions constitute an administrative offence and that alcohol intoxication often becomes a cause of tragedies on the water.
