Poland Refuses To Lift Sanctions on UAE Company Linked to Grodno Azot Supplies

Poland has refused to lift sanctions on the UAE-based company World Chem Trading CO. L.L.C.. The legal entity is registered in Dubai. The sanctions were imposed in 2024.

The grounds for the sanctions were supplies of products from Grodno Azot routed through World Chem Trading. In total, between 2021 and 2024 the company appeared in 38 customs declarations and was listed as the exporter of urea and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) from Belarus to Poland.

In November this year, the company filed a request with Poland’s Minister of the Interior and Administration seeking its removal from the sanctions list. As justification, World Chem Trading argued that it had ceased activities that raised concerns for the Polish authorities. The company also challenged the evidence provided by the customs service. In addition, it contested its inclusion on the sanctions list in a Polish court, which rejected the claim in August this year.

The Minister of the Interior and Administration decided not to remove the company from the list, taking into account the court’s ruling as well as the fact that World Chem Trading is linked to other individuals and legal entities that have been sanctioned for involvement in circumventing restrictions against Grodno Azot.
