The Polish army has received new South Korean K2 tanks. Poland’s Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the delivery.
Twenty-eight combat vehicles have entered service with the 16th Mechanized Division. The delivery was made under a contract signed on Sept. 1, 2025, covering K2 and K2PL tanks.
As the minister noted, the next batches will include tanks in the K2PL version. The designation indicates that some Polish-made components are already being used in the tanks.
“This is an important step in expanding the production capacity of our industry and consistently strengthening Poland’s security,” he added.
The K2 is a South Korean tank that entered service in 2014. It is equipped with a 120-mm Hyundai Wia CN08 gun and carries 40 rounds of ammunition. The tank is also armed with two machine guns and anti-tank guided missiles. Its 1,500-horsepower engine gives it a road speed of up to 75 kph.
