Poczobut Asked About Returning to Belarus After Exchange — Tusk

Andrzej Poczobut asked about the possibility of returning to Belarus after the exchange at the border, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who met the political prisoner there, wrote on X.

“Unbreakable. ‘Will I be able to return there?’ were his first words. ‘Only you can decide. Now you are a free man,’ I replied,” Tusk wrote.

It is recalled that earlier today a 5-for-5 exchange took place at the Polish-Belarusian border. Three Polish citizens and two Moldovan citizens were handed over to Poland from Belarus. The KGB said they had been convicted of espionage in Belarus and Russia. Archaeologist Alexander Butyagin, who had been detained in Poland, was returned to Russia.

“The exchange at the Polish-Belarusian border was the culmination of a complex diplomatic game lasting two years and full of dramatic turns. Success was achieved thanks to the excellent work of our services, diplomats and prosecutors, as well as the great support of our American, Romanian and Moldovan friends. I thank you all on behalf of Andrzej Poczobut and personally,” Tusk said in another post commenting on the developments.
