A 38-year-old resident of Orsha was injured in the explosion of a World War II-era shell. He was hospitalized in serious condition, the Investigative Committee reported.
In the afternoon of April 19, the man and a female acquaintance were searching in a field for shells dating back to World War II. After finding ammunition, the man struck it with a hammer in an attempt to remove the copper ring. An explosion occurred.
The man sustained injuries. Medics who arrived at the scene took him to hospital in serious condition.
Investigative and сапper-explosives teams worked at the scene. The Investigative Committee is establishing the circumstances of the incident.
