Online Library Kamunikat.org Down After Hacker Attack

The online library Kamunikat.org is unavailable following a hacker attack. The Belarusian library announced this on social media.

“Last night, the website of the Belarusian Internet Library Kamunikat.org could not withstand a hacker attack. At the moment, the site is not functioning. However, reports of our death, like reports of the death of Belarusian culture and language — as the classic once said — are premature and somewhat exaggerated. Although it must be admitted that the attack destroyed more than 25 years of work by many people, we are not giving up,” the statement said.

Attempts to access the library website display its homepage, but links and sections do not function.

The creators of the resource promise to restore its operation, although they do not rule out that this may take a long time.

This is not the first time the online library has been targeted by a hacker attack. In particular, it survived one in December.

In September last year, Belarusian authorities added Kamunikat.org to the list of “extremist materials”, and in March this year its creator Yaraslau Ivaniuk was included in the “extremist formation” “Coalition of Publishing Houses ‘Kamunikat.org Foundation,’ ‘Lohvinau Publishing House,’ and ‘Andrei Yanushkevich Publishing.’”
