Oil Loading Terminal Catches Fire In Rostov Region After Drone Attack

The Rostov Region came under a drone attack overnight on October 10. Six people were injured, and residential buildings, two vessels and railway infrastructure were damaged. An oil loading terminal operated by NZNP caught fire in Rostov-on-Don, according to Exilenova+ and Astra.

The terminal, formerly known as Yug Rusi, is used to handle petroleum products from the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant and other suppliers.

According to Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar, six residents of Rostov sought medical assistance. Two received treatment at the scene, while four were taken to hospitals. Two were discharged for outpatient treatment after their wounds were treated. The other two remain in medical facilities in moderately serious condition, and one of them is undergoing emergency surgery.

Apartment buildings and private houses were damaged in Rostov. In Bataysk, a drone struck an unoccupied multi-storey residential building. A building housing a Magnit store, several private houses and five cars were also damaged. In Azov, two vessels sustained damage; preliminary reports indicate that no one on board was injured. Firefighting operations are also continuing at industrial warehouse facilities.

“A railway bridge has been damaged. Train services in both directions have been suspended. Information about possible casualties is being verified. Emergency services are working at the scene,” the regional governor wrote.

In the Bryansk Region, a drone attack involving fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles damaged railway tracks on a bridge in Vygonichi District. According to Governor Yegor Kovalchuk, there were no casualties.

The bridge damage has disrupted rail services on the Bryansk–Unecha–Homiel route. Bus services have been arranged to transport passengers. The Moscow–Novozybkov train will run to Bryansk, with passengers transferred to buses for the remainder of the journey. The Minsk–Adler train will be rerouted via the Smolensk line to Bryansk-Orlovsky station.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said that between 20:00 on October 9 and 08:00 on October 10, Russian air defences intercepted and destroyed 560 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Tambov and Tula regions, the Moscow region, annexed Crimea, and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a second strike on the Samara linear production and dispatch station in Russia’s Samara Region. According to the Ukrainian side, the facility receives, stores and blends oil, including for the production of the Urals export grade, and is involved in supplying the needs of the Russian armed forces. The extent of the damage is being assessed. The General Staff also said that four storage tanks at the facility had been destroyed on October 7, triggering a large-scale fire.
