Official: Poland to Reopen “Bobrowniki” and “Kuznica” on Monday

Poland’s Ministry of the Interior and Administration has signed an order to resume operations at the Kuznica and Bobrowniki border crossings on the Polish-Belarusian frontier on 17 November. The decision was made in response to “the expectations of residents and businesses, including transport companies.”

The ministry noted that migration pressure on Poland from Belarusian and Russian security services continues, but the Polish side will be able to maintain control over the movement of people and goods across the border.

“The border crossings can be reopened because Poland’s and the European Union’s eastern border is now protected as never before. According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the benefits of reopening the crossings for Polish residents and businesses outweigh the related risks,” the ministry said in a press release.

Poland warns that it may again close the border crossings if security threats emerge.

Kuznica (Bruzgi) will reopen for passenger vehicles except buses, while Bobrowniki (Bierastavitsa) will reopen for buses and trucks registered in the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today that the reopening of the crossings is not connected to any political negotiations with Belarus.
