Novy Chas and the Belarusian Investigative Center have been recognised as “extremist formations” in Belarus.
Four new “extremist formations” have appeared in Belarus: The Center for New Ideas, FUNDACJA BRAMA DZIEDZICTWA, the Belarusian Investigative Center and Novy Chas.
Novy Chas was recognised as “extremist” by decision of the Interior Ministry, while the others were designated by the KGB.
In the list of “extremist formations”, the Interior Ministry named people whom it believes are connected with the groups:
- The Center for New Ideas: Aliaksandra Ambrazheichyk, Natallia Vavilonskaya and Hanna Krauchanka,
- FUNDACJA BRAMA DZIEDZICTWA: Aliaksei Lukashevich and Viktar Yakubau,
- the Belarusian Investigative Center: Stanislau Ivashkevich, Alyaksandr Yarashevich, Hanna Shabeta, Volha Alkhimenka, Siarhei Chaly, Alena Cherniavskaya, Aliaksei Karpeka, Kseniya Viaznikoutseva, Alina Yanchur, Aliaksei Hulitski, Lola Buryeva, Maksim Sauchuk, Mikalai Davidchyk, Volha Loika, Fyodar Pauliuchenka, Ivan Prus, Aryna Malinouskaya, Maryna Sabouska and Alena Prykhodzka,
- Novy Chas: Hleb Rubanau, Pavel Khodzinski, Siarhei Pulsha, Hanna Yermakovich, Aksana Kolb, Dzianis Ivashin, Mikalai Dziadok and Dzmitry Dzmitryyeu.
As previously reported, the Belarusian authorities regularly use extremism charges to fight political opponents and dissent in general.
