Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said at a midday briefing that no concrete proposals had been made for a meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia and the Chinese president at the APEC summit.

“No concrete proposals or agreements regarding either the meeting itself or its possible agenda and content were discussed or put forward by anyone,” he said.

The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Russia had proposed holding a meeting between Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping at the APEC summit in China. The meeting would address, among other issues, a settlement to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

At the same time, such a meeting remains a theoretical possibility.

“Given that all three heads of state may potentially attend the summit in China, the possibility of such a hypothetical meeting has indeed been mentioned,” he said.

Peskov also noted that a final end to the war would be possible only with the participation of a Ukrainian representative.

“Of course, a final settlement is absolutely impossible without someone from Kyiv who is prepared to take responsibility,” he said, TASS reported.
