The Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant has already produced 400,000 tonnes of potash fertilisers. This became known during a meeting chaired by Aliaksandr Lukashenka on the completion of the plant’s construction.

“Commercial products were produced for the first time in September 2025. To date, around 400,000 tonnes of potash fertilisers have been produced. They have found buyers on export markets”, Lukashenka said.

During a visit by Lukashenka to the plant in September last year, its director, Ivan Halavaty, who previously headed Belaruskali, promised that the plant would reach a capacity of 1.1 million tonnes of fertilisers per year by the end of the year.

Lukashenka said today that the plant should be completed on schedule, but that there were difficulties with the acceptance of the completed work.

“As government specialists report to me, there are difficulties with completing the work and commissioning the facilities. At the same time, the main technological equipment has been installed and commissioning work has been carried out.

There is probably no need to explain to everyone present that the Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant is a flagship project for the country. It is a very complex project and requires constant attention”, he said.

It should be recalled that in December last year, Lukashenka said he had proposed to the US side that it purchase the plant for $3 billion. The Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant was initially built by Slavkaliy, a company owned by Russian oligarch Mikhail Gutseriev. However, after sanctions were imposed on him and his companies, the project was suspended. In 2022, Nedra Nezhin OJSC was subsequently established at the Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant site. In 2025, Lukashenka acknowledged that the plant had been nationalised.
