Nearly 58,000 Undeclared Items Found in Kitchen Equipment at Polish Border

Brest customs officers uncovered two cases of non-declaration of goods aimed at understating customs payments at the Kazlovichy border crossing, the Belarusian Customs Committee’s press service reported.

In the first case, a driver for a Polish carrier was declaring a consolidated shipment of kitchen equipment, meat-processing boilers and other goods. During inspection, nearly 58,000 undeclared items were found inside combi steamers and food preparation equipment — thermostats, electric motors, wiring and pressure sensors — with a total value of more than 514,000 roubles.

In the second case, a truck was transporting polymer jars with screw caps, but nearly 490,000 caps were not listed in the documents. The value of the undeclared cargo amounted to around 260,000 roubles.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against both carriers under Part 1 of Article 15.5 of the Administrative Code. The sanction предусматривает a fine of up to 30% of the value of the administrative offence, as well as payment of the due customs charges for the undeclared goods.
