Navigation Season in Belarus to Begin on March 24–25

The navigation season in Belarus will begin on March 24–25, the Transport Ministry’s press service reported.

“Unlike last year, this spring has seen the onset of high water. This means there will be sufficient water in rivers, including inland waterways, which will contribute to the efficient operation of river transport. All the necessary conditions are in place for this,” said Ruslan Maroz, head of the ministry’s maritime and river transport department.

Belarus has 2,143 kilometres of waterways, seven river ports, and 17 hydraulic structures supporting water transport operations.

Passenger transportation is carried out along sections of waterways in the Prypiat and Sozh river basins, including river ports in Homiel, Pinsk, and Brest.
