A Russian Gerbera drone was shot down in Lithuania last night. President Gitanas Nausėda identified its type. According to him, there are currently no signs that the drone’s entry into Lithuanian airspace was a deliberate action.
“At the moment, according to the information available, it was a Gerbera-type drone.
The electronic data is currently being analyzed, and it appears that we will be able to recover the information and obtain much more detail about where it came from, how and under what circumstances it entered (Lithuanian airspace — Reform.news).
It was probably not a deliberate action against Lithuania. Most likely, it was a Russian drone intended for Ukraine that was diverted from its course by Ukrainian electronic warfare systems and entered our country’s territory, where it was shot down. Of course, in the future, when we have additional information, we will certainly provide it,” Nausėda was quoted as saying by LRT.
The drone was shot down in Lithuanian airspace shortly after midnight on September 15. Its fragments fell near the settlement of Pratkunai, located not far from the Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant. No one was injured in the incident.
It was reported that the UAV entered Lithuania from the direction of Belarus.
It should be noted that a drone of the same type, but a newer modification, washed ashore in Poland several days ago.
