The National Bank of Belarus has decided to lower the standard risk calculation rates for September.
The following rates will apply in September:
- for new fixed-term irrevocable bank deposits of individuals in Belarusian rubles with a maturity of one to three years — 12.6% per annum (-0.3 percentage points);
- for new fixed-term irrevocable bank deposits of individuals in Belarusian rubles with a maturity of more than three years — 14.5% per annum (-0.12 percentage points);
- for new investment loans provided to legal entities (excluding preferential loans) — 10.45% per annum (-0.25 percentage points);
- for new loans provided to legal entities (excluding preferential and investment loans) — 11.79% per annum (-0.21 percentage points);
- for new loans provided to individuals (excluding preferential loans) — 17.65% per annum (-0.18 percentage points).
Banks that exceed the standard risk calculation rates must meet enhanced regulatory requirements regarding capital adequacy, the formation of special provisions to cover potential losses and the formation of a required reserve fund. Thus, the indicator indirectly affects the cost of loans in Belarus.
