The main events marking City Day will take place in Minsk on September 12.
According to the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Department of Culture, the celebrations will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Minsk — Hero City obelisk at 10 a.m.
An international rescue workers’ competition will be held in Victory Park, with more than 100 athletes taking part.
Minsk will also host the Minsk-Starazhyl historical reenactment festival, which will bring together around 500 reenactors from Belarus, Russia and China.
At 11:30 a.m., a cultural and entertainment program titled “Minsk, My Soul” will begin near the Palace of Sports. Russian performer Akmal will headline the event. A festive fair will also be held there.
At 5 p.m., a ceremony to present the “Minsk Citizen of the Year” awards will begin at Freedom Square. It will be accompanied by a concert.
A professions festival will be held in Gorky Park.
A fireworks display is scheduled for 11 p.m. at Starastsinskaya Slabada Park.
District venues will also operate across the city.
Traffic in the city center will be restricted. From 6 p.m., traffic will be completely closed on Pobediteley Avenue from Internatsionalnaya Street to Melnikaite Street.
