A 50-year-old Minsk resident who held a senior position in one of the structural units of the Minsk City Executive Committee has been sentenced to eight years in prison for accepting bribes on a particularly large scale.

As the Prosecutor General’s press service reported, from February 2024 to May 2025, he repeatedly received money, construction materials and free finishing work at his home from a representative of a commercial company. The total value of what he received over the year exceeded 40,000 rubles.

The bribes were paid in exchange for arranging the purchase of equipment by healthcare institutions from a specific commercial company, as well as assisting in the allocation of budget funds for those purposes.

The man was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The court sentenced him to eight years in a maximum-security prison and a fine of 600 base units (27,000 rubles). He was also barred for five years from holding positions involving organizational, administrative and economic duties, as well as performing legally significant actions. He was also stripped of the rank of “reserve medical service major.”

The sentence has not yet entered into force.
