The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade issued a warning to Belarusian Railways demanding changes to its ticket sales rules. Belarusian Railways’ actions were found to contain signs of a violation of the law on natural monopolies.
MART found that for interregional and regional business-class trains, restrictions not предусмотренные by legislation had been imposed on the number of seats available for sale to and from intermediate stations. The period of advance ticket sales had also been shortened compared with what is established by law.
For example, 45 days before the departure of a Minsk–Homiel train, tickets from the initial station to the final station were available for sale, but tickets to Babruisk were not. They appeared only one day or less before the train’s departure.
