Man With Saber Detained at the Belarusian-Lithuanian Border

A man arrived in Belarus from Lithuania carrying a saber. The weapon was discovered at the border, and administrative proceedings were initiated.

The 47-year-old man was crossing the border by car at the Beniakoni border crossing. He chose the red channel and submitted a declaration for the temporary import of his vehicle. During the inspection, customs officers found a saber in a scabbard inside the car, the State Customs Committee reported.

An expert examination confirmed that the item qualifies as a bladed weapon. Administrative proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for failure to declare goods.
