Lukashenka Signs Document on Joining Trump’s Peace Council

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a document on Belarus’ accession to the Peace Council, a new organisation chaired by Donald Trump.

“The President, on behalf of the Republic of Belarus, signed the document on Belarus’ accession to the Peace Council and the fulfilment of the provisions of the Peace Council Charter.
In full accordance with the procedure provided for and outlined in the letter of the President of the United States, Donald Trump,”
Lukashenka’s press service reported.

In a video published by the press service, the text of the document can be seen:

“Your Excellency,

I have the honour to refer to the invitation of the Chairman of the Peace Council dated 16 January 2026, proposing the consent of the Republic of Belarus to be bound by the Charter of the Peace Council, the text of which was attached to that invitation of the Chairman.

I also have the honour to inform the Government of the United States of America, in its role as depositary of the Charter, that the Republic of Belarus hereby accepts the Charter of the Peace Council as of the date of this letter, which constitutes the official notification of the Republic of Belarus of its consent to be bound by the Charter.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka

To His Excellency
Marco Rubio
Secretary of State
of the United States of America,” the document reads.

On 19 January, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported that Trump had proposed Belarus’ participation in the Peace Council in the context of resolving the situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Ministry described the invitation as recognition of Lukashenka’s personal merits and stated that Belarus is ready to take part in the Peace Council and hopes that the organisation’s mandate will be expanded to cover other international conflicts.

According to media reports, more than 50 countries received invitations from Trump to join the Peace Council.
