Lukashenka Plans a Family Meeting with Xi Jinping

Alyaksandr Lukashenka said in an interview with RT that he plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the near future. According to him, he and his son Mikalai will travel for a “family meeting.”

Lukashenka was answering a question about relations between politicians.

“Maybe that is not always a good thing. But I have to tell you that you should be friends with those who want to be friends with you, and friendship is only possible with such people. What kind of friendship could I have with Starmer or with Biden? What kind of friendship could I have had with him if he imposed sanctions against me and the Europeans were throwing a noose around my neck to hang me? What kind of friendship can I have with them?” he said.

Lukashenka emphasized that he communicates with Vladimir Putin as if they were brothers. He said he also has family-like relations with the Chinese leader.

“Putin and I are more than just friends. We communicate like brothers. He wants to see me and be friends with me. I gladly maintain friendship with Putin. The same is true with Xi Jinping. We have established a good practice of holding, as the Chinese call it, family meetings every year. In the near future, we will meet in a family setting. I will come with my youngest son, who graduated from Peking University, to visit his family, and we maintain friendship and communicate,” Lukashenka added.

According to him, he is also open to friendship with Kim Jong Un. Lukashenka recently visited Pyongyang.

“Kim is in North Korea, but you have demonized him. He is a wonderful, smart, educated person. He is fighting for his interests and the interests of his country. He is not bothering anyone. It is you who are trying to destroy him. He is a strong man. He is trying to defend himself in the way he can, in the way he understands it. He is ready to have good, friendly relations with me.

I am not against it. You can be friends with such people not because they are enemies of America, but because they also want to be friends with you. If Donald Trump is ready to build friendly relations with me, or between Belarus and America, we are open to that and we want it. You are right. Friendship is desirable — although it is impossible — but ideally everyone should be friends with one another. Then there will be no wars, and people will help each other,” he said.
