Lukashenka Confident Business and Humanitarian Contacts With Croatia Will Expand

Aliaksandr Lukashenka, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself personally, congratulated the people of Croatia on Statehood Day, traditionally making no mention of the leadership of what Belarus classifies as an “unfriendly” country.

“This important holiday for every citizen of the country is a symbol of its independence and national unity,” his press service quoted him as saying.

According to Lukashenka, Belarusians and Croats have historically maintained “friendly and goodwill-based relations.”

“I am confident that moving forward along the path of constructive development of bilateral ties is in the fundamental interests of the peoples of Belarus and Croatia. I am convinced that cooperation between business communities, cultural exchange and humanitarian contacts will expand and contribute to productive results for the benefit of Minsk and Zagreb,” he said.

Lukashenka wished the people of Croatia “boundless happiness, a peaceful future and continued progress.”
