Lukashenka Announces Talks With U.S. Delegation

Alyaksandr Lukashenka plans to hold talks with a delegation from the United States in the near future. He made the statement at today’s meeting on the 2026–2030 socio-economic development program, while commenting on the situation at the border with Lithuania and the decision regarding Lithuanian freight trucks stranded in Belarus.

Lukashenka said he expects Lithuania to take steps toward fully reopening the border. He also threatened to confiscate the vehicles.

“We will discuss everything else soon during the talks with the delegation of the United States of America. I feel they didn’t stay out of this,” he said.

It is worth recalling that yesterday it became known that U.S. President Donald Trump nominated lawyer John Coale as the U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus. It was Coale who previously visited Belarus to meet with Lukashenka. At that time, Coale announced a partial lifting of sanctions on Belavia. In addition, around fifty political prisoners were released and taken out of Belarus.
