Legalisation and Settling in Poland — Tsikhanouskaya Meets Freed Political Prisoners and Volunteers in Warsaw

Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on 14 January held a meeting with volunteers and representatives of initiatives who received political prisoners in Warsaw during the December releases and who are now assisting them in Poland.

The democratic leader thanked the volunteers for their work and listened to proposals and issues requiring solutions. Urgent requests and possibilities for improving assistance processes for the repressed were also discussed.

Together with her deputy Pavel Latushka, the politician also met with political prisoners who were freed in December and deported from Belarus. More than 40 freed political prisoners currently in Warsaw took part in the meeting. They discussed issues of legalisation, settling in Poland, opportunities for further releases, and security concerns.

“I am deeply impressed by our Belarusians — by the volunteers, the initiatives, and the courage of the freed political prisoners. No one gave up, no one broke. People believe in our cause, and everyone does what they can. We must take care of and support each other. Solidarity is our weapon, which strengthens us and does not allow our cause, our movement, to fade. I just want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you,” Tsikhanouskaya said.

Before the meeting with the political prisoners, the head of the United Transitional Cabinet also visited an exhibition at the Museum of Free Belarus in Warsaw — “Entry Point — 123”. The exhibition will officially open in a few days.
