Pavel Latushka issued a statement following the Coordination Council election. His “Latushka Coalition and For Freedom Movement” received more than 42% of the vote and 34 mandates in the new composition of the Coordination Council. He thanked everyone who voted in the election. A total of 2,113 voters cast their ballots.
“On behalf of the coalition ‘Latushka and For Freedom Movement’, I would like to thank all voters — Belarusian men and women — who voted for our list.
Thank you for supporting us in the previous election. This time we received even greater trust — six additional mandates thanks to your votes and 34 seats out of 80 in the Coordination Council. We value this highly and are especially grateful to all Belarusians who voted from inside Belarus, but also, of course, to Belarusians abroad.
The most valuable votes are those cast by Belarusian men and women under such difficult and critical conditions, amid the largest-scale repression against a European people in the history of 21st-century Europe.
This was a difficult election campaign, with unprecedented pressure, a campaign of disinformation, discreditation and open cyberwarfare against the Coordination Council and the voting system. But the election took place, and we promise to strive to fulfil the commitments set out in our election programme.
I would also like to thank my colleagues on the list for their courage and willingness to take part in the election despite repression and threats from the regime. We made it through this election and did not give up. I value this very highly both as a Belarusian and as a politician,” Latushka said.
