Latushka In Brussels: Regime’s Reaction Confirms Political Influence Of Our Institutions

Support for the democratic transformation of Belarus today is a direct investment in the security of all Europe tomorrow. This message was delivered by Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet and Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka at the sixth meeting of the EU–Belarus Consultative Group in Brussels.

The politician outlined three key elements of the Cabinet’s strategy: developing a system of political institutions, applying effective pressure on the regime to change its policies, and implementing the concept of a Round Table.

“Support for the democratic transformation of Belarus today is a direct investment in the security of all Europe tomorrow,” he said.

Speaking about the political influence of the institutions that have been created, Latushka cited the reaction of the regime itself as evidence.

“It has declared our institutions extremist and terrorist organizations. It uses extraterritorial persecution through ‘in absentia’ verdicts and the active work of special services against us. The regime uses disinformation and discreditation and creates threats to our lives. This is unprecedented pressure. The regime is spending enormous resources fighting us. They want to destroy this political alternative. All this proves that we are a real factor and subject of politics that cannot be ignored,” he said.

Latushka stressed that the Cabinet views economic and personal sanctions not as a formality but as a strong and pragmatic lever. The goal, he said, is to force the regime to change its policy.

“In this way we create conditions under which the search for a political solution becomes the only rational scenario for the regime,” he said.

The politician also highlighted the importance of the Round Table concept for resolving the crisis in Belarus.

“We are convinced that direct negotiations between the international community and the regime will not work. Attempts to bypass Belarusian society and democratic forces will not resolve the crisis. Internal transformation is impossible without internal dialogue and the involvement of society,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of participation in the elections to the Coordination Council.

“Politics is responsibility before society and a legitimate mandate. We cannot play a serious role in the future of Belarus without the confirmed will of its citizens. An electoral mandate gives us the right to represent Belarusian society — both at this table today and at the Round Table tomorrow,” the politician said.
