Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Pavel Latushka and Speaker of the Coordination Council Artsiom Bruhan met with Grzegorz Schetyna, head of the Polish Sejm and Senate parliamentary group “For a Free Belarus.” The sides discussed steps toward overcoming Belarus’s political crisis, strengthening regional stability and security, and expanding cooperation between Belarusian democratic forces — including the Coordination Council and the Polish parliament.
During the meeting, participants discussed approaches to launching a national dialogue in Belarus in a “round table” format modeled after Poland’s historic example. According to the Coordination Council, this dialogue could become a key element of a “grand bargain” that would pave the way for change in Belarus.
Schetyna expressed support for finding ways out of Belarus’s deep internal political crisis and stressed the importance of seeking allies within the European Union to back this initiative.
The parties also discussed coordination in the event of a mass release of Belarusian political prisoners — including logistical arrangements, rehabilitation, medical and psychological support, and legal status in Poland.
Another topic was expanding cooperation between the Coordination Council and the Polish Senate, following the Senate’s recent declaration recognizing the Coordination Council of Belarus as a parliament in exile. The sides considered holding joint events to further strengthen cooperation between the Coordination Council and the Polish Senate.
