Kolegova Organises Rehabilitation for Former Political Prisoners in the Canary Islands, €22,000 Needed

The Dapamoga organisation run by Nataliya Kolegova has launched an initiative to organise rehabilitation for Belarusian women who have gone through political imprisonment. The plan is to send 20 people to the Canary Islands for one month.

As representatives of the organisation told Reform.news, the project is being implemented primarily through personal funds of Nataliya Kolegova’s family and with the help of volunteers. The total budget required to carry out the initiative is around €22,000. So far, in addition to the organisers’ family contributions, €1,300 has been raised through donations from concerned individuals.

“Organising such a trip is a complex logistical and financial process. Renting a villa, purchasing airline tickets, transfers and food involve significant expenses, which is why the initiative is seeking support from Belarusians to cover the costs of a retreat for former Belarusian women political prisoners. For each of them, a trip to the ocean is not just a holiday, but a vitally important opportunity to learn to breathe freely again without looking back at prison walls,” the Dapamoga organisation explained.

They also recalled that Dapamoga continues to develop another important project — the Belarusian Support Centre for Repressed Belarusians and Former Political Prisoners, Zamok, in Vilnius.

The building is owned by the Kolegova family, who have provided it free of charge for use by Dapamoga. However, the maintenance of the house itself — payment for utilities and heating, keeping it in proper condition and purchasing food — depends entirely on donations.

The project can be supported through donations.
