On April 27, Belarusian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Viktar Khrenin met with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics for Strategic Planning, Brigadier General Reza Seifollahi Talaei Nik.
Notably, all participants on the Belarusian side, including Khrenin and Assistant to the Defense Minister for International Military Cooperation Valery Revenko, were dressed not in military uniforms but in civilian suits without ties.
“The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the military sphere and exchanged views on global and regional security,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.
The sides paid particular attention to the situation in the Middle East.
“The Belarusian side reaffirmed its consistent and principled position on international security issues. It was noted that the only way to resolve all contradictions is to return to political and diplomatic settlement and to intensify the negotiation process,” the ministry said.
The meeting was described as constructive and confirmed the mutual interest of the two countries in further deepening cooperation aimed at strengthening security and regional stability.
It was also reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met in Russia with Vladimir Putin earlier the same day.
