The Belarusian online library Kamunikat.org has been hit by a hacker attack, its founder Jarosław Iwaniuk said.

According to him, the attacker managed to gain administrator-level access and systematically deleted publications and news items. At around 2:30 a.m., the intruder was blocked.

In total, several thousand publications were deleted. However, Iwaniuk said the consequences have been almost fully addressed: publications have been restored, and news items recovered up to early October. Restoration work on the website is ongoing.

“We hope that everything will be fully restored. At this point, we do not know who was behind this attack,” Iwaniuk said.

Kamunikat.org is the largest Belarusian online library. The website hosts around 60,000 publications, including books, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines, videos and other materials. The library has been operating for 25 years.
