Journalist Tina Palynskaya and her daughter Margaryta Rabinovich have been sentenced to two years in a penal colony, the human rights center Viasna reported.
It is known that the prosecutor had requested two and a half years in prison for them. Palynskaya and her daughter were also fined.
Tina Palynskaya and Margarita Rabinovich were charged under the article on creating an “extremist formation” or participating in one (Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code).
Palynskaya and her elder daughter were detained in May 2025. It was previously reported that the criminal case against them may be linked to the designation of the “Belarusian Analytical Workshop” of Professor Andrei Vardomatski as an “extremist formation.” The organization conducted sociological surveys.
Tina Palynskaya had not worked in journalism for a long time. She was raising her daughters and working in archives, including in Russia, carrying out private commissions to create biographical essays, family books and stories about participants in the Second World War.
