Italian Garden At Mir Castle To Open In September

The Italian Garden at Mir Castle is scheduled to open in September. It was restored as part of a new phase of restoration of the castle complex, which began in 2024.

The Ministry of Culture said the garden is being restored to its original appearance from the mid-18th century.

An area of 5.7 hectares has already been restored. Visitors will have access to a flower parterre, a shady linden gazebo, a “sod bench” and an “apothecary garden.”

“In addition to the reconstruction of the Italian Garden, the project includes the creation of a fountain on the pond, a decorative waterfall, stone paths, a central paved avenue opposite the bridge leading from the Northern Wing of the castle, gazebos, small architectural forms, a parking area and lighting,” the ministry added.

The third phase of the restoration includes the reconstruction of the English landscape park. Work is scheduled to begin in 2027.
