Russian Company Seeks $1.2 Million From Transaviaexport Through Court

Russian leasing company Diona is seeking more than $1.2 million from Belarusian OJSC Transaviaexport Airlines. Two lawsuits were filed with the Arbitration Court of the Voronezh Region.

In the first lawsuit, Diona is seeking $128,500 in outstanding payments under a 2021 lease agreement and $767,400 in penalties. In the second, it is seeking $44,200 in outstanding payments under a 2023 sublease agreement and $264,200 in penalties.

Both lawsuits were filed on Aug. 10. On Aug. 14, the court reviewed them and left them without consideration due to procedural violations: the lawsuits did not include an extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities or the Unified State Register of Individual Entrepreneurs containing information on the locations of the plaintiff and defendant.

The Russian company was instructed to remedy the violations and submit new documents no later than Sept. 14, 2026.

Transaviaexport Airlines was established in 1992. It specializes in cargo transportation. After being sanctioned by the United States and the EU, the company changed its name to TAE Avia in 2022, although its former name is used in the lawsuits.
