Individuals Borrowed 2 Billion Belarusian Roubles in August

Banks increased lending to individuals in August. Loans totalling 2 billion Belarusian roubles were issued during the month, 130 million Belarusian roubles more than in July. Compared with August last year, lending increased by 50.9%. The data was published by the National Bank of Belarus.

Overall, in the first eight months of the year, the total value of loans issued by banks to individuals reached 12.75 billion Belarusian roubles, up 20.4% compared with the same period last year.

Consumer lending increased by 20.9% in January-August to 10.08 billion Belarusian roubles. Lending for real estate purchases rose by 18.4% to 2.67 billion Belarusian roubles.

Individuals’ outstanding loan debt increased by 741.1 million Belarusian roubles in August, reaching 33.09 billion Belarusian roubles as of September 1. Over the year, individuals’ loan debt increased by 16.1%.

Outstanding consumer loan debt rose by 22.9% to 13.85 billion Belarusian roubles, while debt on real estate loans increased by 11.7% to 19.2 billion Belarusian roubles.

As of September 1, individuals had overdue loans totalling 57.3 million Belarusian roubles, 0.7 million Belarusian roubles less than as of August 1. Over the year, the volume of overdue debt increased by 9.3 million Belarusian roubles.
