Hrodna Azot Employee Dies by Suicide — Rabochy Rukh

A deputy head of a workshop at Hrodna Azot committed suicide, Rabochy Rukh reported.

According to activists, the incident occurred amid an internal investigation related to the procurement of bricks for repairs of waste incineration furnaces. Russian-made products had been purchased. After the lining in the furnaces collapsed, it emerged that the material was of poor quality.

An internal inspection was conducted, and its results were discussed at a planning meeting. Activists claim that “harsh accusations, threats and attempts to find a ‘scapegoat’ were voiced” during the meeting.

“According to reports, the last words of the deputy head of the workshop for technology Andrei S. were: ‘I can’t take this anymore.’ That day he did not return home. His body was found not far from the plant. The deceased is survived by two minor children,” Rabochy Rukh writes.

According to the group, following the same meeting, other responsible employees at the enterprise also experienced health problems, including heads of divisions and the head of the workshop.
