Heating has been cut off at Ivatsevichy Correctional Colony No. 22, known as “Wolf Burrows,” Mayday.team reported. According to rights defenders, following a cold spell — with temperatures dropping to minus 25 degrees Celsius on February 3 — the colony’s pipeline system ruptured.
Ivatsevichy Correctional Colony No. 22 “Wolf Burrows” is located about 20 kilometers from the city and is situated on the grounds of a former Soviet military base. In practice, it lies on the border of the Brest and Hrodna regions. The nearest railway station is Damanova.
Earlier, on January 30, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported that pressure on political prisoners had resumed at Colony No. 22. Prison authorities began issuing disciplinary violations on fabricated grounds, assigning inmates the status of “persistent violators,” and sending them to punishment cells.
Among those placed in solitary confinement was Artsiom Liabedzka, the son of Anatoli Liabedzka, a representative of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on constitutional reform and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
