Head Of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Speaks About Meeting With CIA Director

Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin commented on his recent meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe. He did not go into details of the talks, seeking to portray the visit by the head of U.S. intelligence to Moscow as “routine.”

“The meeting took place, and there is nothing unusual about it. In the work of special services, meetings between their heads, whether in person or online, are part of our work. I should tell you that I meet practically every week with the head of one special service or another, an intelligence organization from every continent in the world. So the meeting with John Ratcliffe was also a working-format meeting,” Naryshkin said, TASS reports.

Naryshkin did not disclose the content of the talks.

“During the meeting, we discussed a number of issues within the remit of intelligence services. And the remit of intelligence services is a rather delicate and special matter,” he added.

Today, U.S. and European media, citing sources, reported that Ratcliffe’s visit was aimed at warning Moscow against a limited attack on NATO countries, in particular the Baltic states. Support for Iran by Russia was also discussed.

U.S. President Donald Trump also described the CIA chief’s trip as “semi-routine.”
