Russia will establish seven polling stations in Belarus for the State Duma elections, which will be held on Sept. 20. Russian citizens staying in Belarus will be able to vote at them. Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov told RIA Novosti that he was concerned about possible provocations at the polling stations in Belarus.
“The possibility of various kinds of provocations and unlawful actions cannot be ruled out,” he said.
According to him, elections themselves entail increased security measures, but given current circumstances, they will receive particular attention.
“All necessary measures will be taken to protect the polling stations. Protecting the lives and health of voters and members of election commissions is an absolute priority for us,” he said.
Gryzlov also complained that unfriendly countries are trying to “stoke Russophobia, discredit the electoral process” and disrupt the elections.
