Group of Indians Ask Authorities to Rescue Them From Belarus

Nine Indian citizens say they are stranded in Belarus without work and are asking the Indian authorities to help them return home, The Hindu reports.

The wife of one of the Indians said that in December 2025 her husband, T. Thangaswami, traveled to Belarus through an employment agency after paying it 400,000 rupees (about $4,400). According to the woman, her husband has been in Belarus for almost two months, but during this time he has not been provided with a job, proper accommodation, or food.

The publication contacted Thangaswami, who said that the agency had initially promised him a job in Israel but stopped responding after receiving the money. Only a year later were Thangaswami and others sent to Belarus.

As a result, nine Indian citizens ended up in Belarus. They say the agency does not give clear answers to their questions and complain of “serious difficulties in an unfamiliar country” and heavy snowfall.

The Indians are asking their government to rescue them from Belarus.

As a reminder, a similar situation recently involved another Indian citizen. She flew to Belarus for work through an agency but was left in the country without money and without a job. After her story spread in the media, the Belarusian police took an interest in the case, and the woman was able to return home.
