Belarusian human rights defenders have recognized 14 more people as political prisoners: Valentyn Antsipovich, Nikita Putsillo, Dzmitry Zakharau, Artur Syrokvasha, Aliaksandr Labuzau, Ihar Kaluyeu, Natallia Ramanenka, Uladzimir Mikhailenka, Viachaslau Semionau, Dzmitry Khaltsou, Ihar Brodka, Siarhei Kebets, Aliaksei Kubrakou, and Volha Osipchyk.
They are known to be in custody or convicted on charges of involvement with so-called “extremist groups,” according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.
As of October 21, the number of political prisoners in Belarus stands at 1,247.
