Former Meat Processing Plant Director in Brest Region Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

The former general director of a major meat processing plant in the Brest Region has been sentenced to five years in a medium-security penal colony on bribery charges, BELTA reported, citing the Prosecutor’s Office of Minsk’s Central District.

According to case materials, between April 2024 and April 2025, the general director received more than €8,800 from the head of a private company during business trips to Minsk and Moscow. The payments were allegedly made in exchange for concluding contracts for the supply of food additives to the meat processing plant.

During the trial, the former general director and the head of the private company admitted guilt. The former meat plant executive reimbursed the income obtained through criminal activity.

The court sentenced the former general director to five years in a medium-security penal colony and imposed a fine of 5,000 basic units (225,000 Belarusian rubles). He was also barred from holding certain positions for five years.

The head of the private company received a sentence of two and a half years of restricted freedom under home supervision and a fine of 1,000 basic units (45,000 Belarusian rubles).

The verdict has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
