Forecasters Warn of Another Night of “Orange-Level” Frost

Forecasters have issued a warning with an orange level of danger.

“During the night and morning hours of February 4 (Wednesday), in the eastern part of the country, the minimum air temperature in many areas will range from -25 to -29 degrees Celsius,” the statement said.

On February 4, weather conditions in Belarus will be shaped by an area of high atmospheric pressure formed in an Arctic air mass, with the influence of a frontal boundary affecting only the south-west of the country during the daytime. Cloudy conditions with some clear spells are expected. Precipitation will be mostly absent, with only brief snow possible in the south-west during the day. At night and in the morning, light fog is possible in some areas. Icy conditions are expected in certain districts, with slippery roads. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from -10 to -16 degrees Celsius, and from -7 to -9 degrees Celsius in the south-west.

On February 5, night-time frost will begin to ease. Night-time temperatures will range from -7 degrees Celsius in the south-west to -26 degrees Celsius in the north-east; daytime temperatures will be -4 to -11 degrees Celsius, dropping to -14 degrees Celsius in the north-east, and reaching 0 to -3 degrees Celsius in western areas.

On February 6, night-time temperatures will become even more moderate. Night-time temperatures will range from -1 degree Celsius in the south-west to -15 degrees Celsius in the north-east, while daytime temperatures will range from -3 to -10 degrees Celsius, and from -2 to +2 degrees Celsius in western and southern areas.
