Today, February 13, a farewell ceremony was held in Minsk for Belarusian publisher and poet Raman Tsymberau. More than one hundred people came to pay their last respects to the dedicated cultural figure and creator.
At the request of his relatives, people brought only fresh flowers. The image from the hall appears modest, as for security reasons we cannot show the faces of those present. Yet an extraordinary atmosphere of solidarity remained beyond the frame: witnesses said that at the farewell people spoke of Raman “with exceptional warmth, in a heartfelt and sincere way — filled with emotion.” His colleagues, friends and readers shared who Raman was and remains to them.
What is known about the funeral arrangements. As Reform.news reported, after the farewell ceremony the deceased was taken to the Minsk Crematorium, where the cremation procedure was scheduled.
When the ashes are handed over to the family, a separate announcement will be made about the time and place of burial.
Raman Tsymberau — a Belarusian poet and publisher, owner of the online bookstore of fiction and historical literature Kniger.by — died on February 10 at the age of 44.
Among the notable books he published were “Minsk Prison Castle” by Dzmitry Drazd, “Hot Paraffin” by Vintses Mudrou, “Whisper” by Syarhei Leskets, “Kupala And Kolas Joke” by Pavel Karalyou, a collected works volume by Kastus Sevyarynets, the children’s book “Grandfather’s Tales” by Dzed Yankel (Ihar Haikevich), and many others.
He was the author of four poetry collections. In recent years, he worked actively for children — creating the “Vetrachoк” series and publishing a joint book of poems with his daughter.
For Belarusian culture and community, Raman’s passing is a tremendous loss, as he was a person who connected two spaces: the one inside the country and the one beyond its borders. Raman dared to take on many things — from publishing little-known authors to working in the most difficult and dangerous conditions. He never considered this something special. “I work as long as it is possible,” he said about his work.
