Fake Letters Calling for Support Sent to Politicians in Tsikhanouski’s Name

Mass mailings of fake emails continue to be sent to politicians, officials and lawmakers in various countries in the name of former Belarusian political prisoner Siarhei Tsikhanouski. The messages are distributed systematically and, on his behalf, contain appeals for support of initiatives related to the human rights situation in Belarus. A fake domain with similar spelling is being used to send the emails.

One such email was sent on February 18, 2026, to British lawmaker John Whittingdale. The sender was listed as main@tsikhanouski.org. In the letter, the author, presenting himself as Siarhei Tsikhanouski, addresses the recipient as an influential international politician and asks for assistance in promoting European Union policies aimed at securing the release of political prisoners, increasing pressure on the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and protecting the rights of Belarusian citizens.

The text of the letter emphasizes that serious human rights violations continue in Belarus and includes a request for a possible meeting to discuss further steps and exchange views.

In fact, Siarhei Tsikhanouski’s official website is located at tihanovski.com. Emails sent from other domains may mislead recipients regarding their authenticity.
