On November 13, 2025, the second power unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant will be taken offline for scheduled preventive maintenance, the press service of the Energy Ministry reported. According to the ministry, such work is carried out annually in accordance with established regulations to ensure stable and safe operation of the equipment.
The maintenance program includes technical servicing, diagnostics, and repair of technological systems, as well as inspection of the condition of the main metal structures and welded joints of equipment and pipelines.
One of the key stages will be the replacement of part of the spent nuclear fuel — about 25% of the reactor’s fuel assemblies will be replaced with fresh fuel.
The work will be carried out by the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant’s personnel with the involvement of specialists from Belarusian and Russian organizations.
The second power unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant was put into commercial operation on November 1, 2023. According to the ministry, it has generated about 18.5 billion kWh of electricity since then.
