Wage growth among public-sector workers is outpacing the rate of wage growth across the economy as a whole. This was stated in the Eurasian Development Bank’s weekly review of the economies of its member countries, prepared by the bank’s experts.
They noted the high rate of real wage growth, adjusted for inflation. In July, it stood at 9.1% year-on-year, compared with 9% in June.
“In the public sector, wage growth continues to outpace the economy-wide average: according to our estimate, it stood at 10.5% year-on-year, down from 11.8% a month earlier”, the EADB said.
From September 1, Belarus will increase the base rate used to determine pay in the public sector.
“This will help maintain strong wage growth and support consumer activity”, the review said.
