The Russian messenger service Max has 1.3 million registered users in Belarus, according to the service’s press office.

The press release said that the messenger has more than 7 million foreign users, 90% of whom are residents of CIS countries. Foreign users make 1.5 million calls and send more than 20 million messages in Max every day.

Uzbekistan has overtaken Belarus for the first time to become the leading country in terms of registrations in Max. Kazakhstan is in third place, followed by Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

As of early April, 110 million people had registered in the application, while the messenger’s daily audience exceeded 80 million users.

The Russian messenger Max is an internal service of the digital platform of the same name. External services, including digital ID, are also integrated into the platform. The platform was founded in 2025 by VK and is being developed by its subsidiary Communication Platform LLC.

It should be noted that Russia is effectively carrying out the forced transfer of users from foreign messengers to the Russian platform. Alternative services are simply blocked. The messenger has faced criticism for a number of shortcomings, aggressive advertising and close ties to the state.
