Counterfeit Chinese Yuan Discovered in Hrodna

A counterfeit Chinese yuan banknote has been detected in Hrodna. This was reported by the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.

A young man came to a bank with the counterfeit note, bringing 100 yuan for exchange. A bank employee doubted the authenticity of the money and called the police. The banknote was sent for examination.

“According to the forensic expert’s conclusion, the 100-yuan banknote of the People’s Bank of China, 2015 issue, was not produced by an enterprise engaged in the manufacture of such products. All images were made using inkjet printing, and the security elements were imitated using various methods,” the expert conclusion said.

It is noted that this combination of methods used to imitate banknote security features has been encountered in Belarus for the first time.
