Container from Hydrochloric Acid Explodes at Belaruskali, Injuring Four

On October 31, an explosion occurred at the industrial site of the 4th mining department of Belaruskali, injuring four people.

An empty container that had previously held hydrochloric acid ruptured in the open area of the membrane electrolysis workshop. A neighboring container with hydrochloric acid was also damaged, the Emergency Ministry reported.

Emergency crews are working at the scene.

The four injured were taken to hospital with chemical burns and combined trauma. A team including a burn specialist, traumatologist, and resuscitation physician was sent to Salihorsk, the Health Ministry said.

State sanitary authorities are monitoring air quality at the production site.
