Comprehensive Check of Territorial Defense Forces Begins in Mahiliou Region

The inspection will run from October 7 to November 13, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reports.
Today, Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Uladzimir Bely handed the General Staff directive on forming territorial troops in the Krychau district of the Mahiliou region to Chair of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee Anatol Isachanka.
The stated purpose of the inspection is to assess the level of territorial defense preparedness and the effectiveness of executive committee officials and military commissariats in the region in forming and deploying territorial defense forces.
The call-up of reservists assigned to the territorial troops and training sessions with them are planned in the Mahiliou region.
“The inspection will cover all administrative districts of the region, while territorial troop units are to be formed in the Krychau district.
The main goal is to test the functioning of command, comprehensive support and coordination systems: how officials of executive committees and officers of command bodies are able to carry out tasks related to deploying and conducting territorial defense under modern conditions and in view of existing challenges,” Bely said.
At the final stage, a command-and-staff exercise with territorial defense units in the Krychau district is planned. Territorial troop units deployed across various areas will practice carrying out tasks in cooperation with other territorial defense forces.
According to the chief of the General Staff, the inspection will result in an assessment of the work of executive committee officials in preparing for the deployment, formation and conduct of territorial defense.
